Prey, the first photo and title for Predator 5, reveals a hunter alien from the past. The Predator was designed by Jim and John Thomas and originally featured in John McTiernan’s 1988 film Predator, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. Danny Glover starred in Predator 2, which was released in 1990. The hunter-alien monsters weren’t seen again until filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson’s Alien vs. Predator in 2004 and then in the sequel Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem in 2007. In 2010, Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal tried their hand at the brand with Predators, and Shane Black’s The Predator was released in 2018.

Deadline revealed that the project a year ago, with 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg directing. On Friday, we learned the plot line with the pic set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, following Naru (Amber Midthunder), a skilled female warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator.

Predator has sparked a slew of derivative material, including books, comics, and video games, making it a cultural phenomenon that hasn’t stopped producing content since its release. The Predator, the most recent installment, was a disappointment at the movie office, with only $51 million in the United States. Many attempts have been made to resurrect the franchise in some way or another, and now it looks that the series has a fresh perspective and a new direction.

Amber Midthunder, Dane DiLiegro, and Stefany Mathias will feature in Prey, which has a script by Patrick Aison. 10 Cloverfield Lane, Black Mirror, Peacock’s The Lost Symbol, and Amazon’s The Boys are among Trachtenberg’s other directorial works. Midthunder, who is most known for her roles in the CW’s Roswell, New Mexico as Rosa, Legion as Kerry Loudermilk, and the Liam Neeson movie The Ice Road, looks to be the human protagonist in the picture.
