Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City new clip reveals Rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy meets Umbrella Corporation experiment, Lisa Trevor. Many characters from Capcom’s Resident Evil video games are slated to feature in the upcoming film revival, including Kennedy and Trevor. Along with Kaya Scodelairo as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, and Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, the film stars Avon Jogia and Marina Mazepa as Leon and Lisa, respectively. watch the clip below.

In an interview with EW, Johannes Roberts celebrated the opportunity to bring the ‘ Resident Evil ‘ franchise back into the horror/horror genre. The new film, incidentally, was praised for its fidelity to the games in early reactions.

“I’m a horror guy. I’m a Stephen King guy. I’m a John Carpenter guy. All those things are sort of built into the fabric of this movie,” he explains. “I was just like, ‘Let’s make a scary movie again.'”

“They had some materials that they were looking at, but they didn’t really know what they were going to do.” One thing they did know: “This needs to be a whole different beast” than the past iterations, he notes.

“It’s a very different sci-fi Netflix beast, whereas this [film] is retro horror, Stephen King-style,” he says. “And this is super, super faithful to the games, whereas the Netflix show is its own beast, from what I understand.”

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is set in 1998 and follows a group of survivors of a zombie outbreak in the titular Midwestern town as they investigate the mysteries of the mysterious Spencer Mansion and dying Raccoon City in order to learn more about the outbreak’s origins and ties to the evil pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation. The film, written and directed by Johannes Roberts of 47 Meters Down, is a straight adaptation of the first two Resident Evil games. After two prior delays, Sony is gearing up for the release of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and Sony is hoping to keep the hype going.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is scheduled to hit the theaters on November 24.
