The first trailer for “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City,” the live-action revival of the “Resident Evil” film franchise, has been released by Sony Pictures and Screen Gems. watch the trailer below.

The film, directed by Johannes Roberts, will return to the “scary origins” of the first two games, ignoring the Milla Jovovich-led movie. The new picture is set in the year 1998. Raccoon City, formerly a flourishing headquarters for the pharmaceutical behemoth Umbrella Corporation, is now a decaying Midwest town. The metropolis became a desolation when the corporation left… with a tremendous horror lurking beneath the surface. When evil is unleashed, the residents of the town are permanently changed… and a small number of survivors must band together to learn the truth about Umbrella while attempting to survive the night.
