Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon are in talks to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘Oppenheimer’. Deadline reported that Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon will be joining alongside Cillian Murphy in Universal Pictures.

J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who oversaw the Manhattan Project that led to the discovery of the atomic bomb, is the subject of the film, which Nolan is writing and directing. The film will be released on July 21, 2023, a date that has always been reserved for Christopher Nolan films. It’s also around two weeks before the Hiroshima bombing anniversary. The identities of the characters that Damon and Downey Jr. will play in the film are being kept under wraps. Emily Blunt will be also cast in Oppenheimer.
Oppenheimer will be released in North America by Universal and will be distributed globally by Universal. Along with Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven, Nolan will produce. The film is based on Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.
