Warner Bros. unveiled new footage for Matt Reeve’s “The Batman.” At CinemaCon on Tuesday,
The featurette, which was preceded by the DC Fandom teaser, began with what appeared to be pandemonium, with Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne wandering around Gotham. He rises from there, and we hear Reeves promise an “emotional movie” unlike anything we’ve seen before. He also stated that it will be “radically different” from any other Bat-man film previously released.
Pattison also discussed how many people identify with the Bat-man persona and how the picture is a labour of love for Reeves. Reeves has stated that the picture is “grounded the way Year One is,” referring to Frank Miller’s breakthrough 1987 miniseries “Bat-man: Year One,” which served as the major inspiration for Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins.”
Robert Pattinson says ‘The Bat-man’ will be RADICALLY DIFFERENT from previous Batman movies. In her words, Bruce “is really working on his anger issues. All the battles feel very personal.”
Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, is played by Zoe Kravitz, Edward Nashton, a.k.a. the Riddler, is played by Paul Dano, and Carmine Falcone is played by John Turturro. Alfred Pennyworth will be played by Andy Serkis, and The Penguin will be played by Colin Farrell. Commissioner Gordon will be played by Jeffrey Wright, Wasserman will be played by Peter Saarsgard, and Jayme Lawson will also feature.
Rather than an origin story in the manner of Frank Miller’s renowned “Year One” series, Reeves describes his picture as a “defining” and “very personal” a drama about the Dark Knight. Reeves’ film, according to sources close to the production, will focus on Bruce Wayne’s second year as the Dark Knight investigator.
