Shazam 2! is currently under production. There’s a lot to look forward to in Fury of the Gods and the DC Comics-inspired sequel. Many fans have speculated about possible cameos or guest appearances in the sequel, given the unusual tone of the first film in the series. After Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent/Superman made a cameo (with the aid of a body double) in the last sequence of the first Shazam!, one of the most prevalent hypotheses has surrounded him.
Shazam! recently answered questions on Instagram. When asked if Cavill’s Superman will appear in Fury of the Gods, franchise director David F. Sandberg said yes. Sandberg replied in Swedish, “You will be very disappointed when you translate this,” implying that a cameo is unlikely. Earlier this year, it was reported that Cavill will not appear in the film, but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping. Cavill’s prospective position in the first film was also a source of concern, according to the project’s producers.
“We still wanted to do it, and it turned out to be better because it allowed us to do a hard cut on Freddy’s reaction because if we’d had Cavill there, we’d have actually written lines, they’d have a dialogue, but then it’s a little bit of a hat on a hat, because really what it’s about is Freddy’s reaction, so we had to get out on that.”
Sandberg also announced that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, who is presently filming his own standalone feature, will not be making an appearance in the film.
