Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson is currently in development. The character is from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The film is directed by S.J. Clarkson with Morbius writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama will be penning the script. In a recent Reddit source, the film’s plot synopsis has been revealed. read below:
Madame Web is about Julia Carpenter, who met Cassandra Webb and learned that she is the next Madame Web and she must protect the avatar of the Web of Life from a mysterious serial killer. The killer turns out to be Webb’s daughter Charlotte Witter, who wants to steal the avatar’s power for herself. Julia must learn how to control her powers to fight Charlotte and protect the avatar, teenager Anya Corazón.
Dakota Johnson plays the role of Julia Carpenter, Sydney Sweeney plays the role of Charlotte Witter, and Vera Farmiga is in final talks for Cassandra. Sony wants Jena Ortega for Anya and is eyeing Scott Eastwood, Moses Ingram, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan for supporting roles.
In Marvel Comics, Madame Web first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 and was created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr., She is usually depicted as a supporting character in the Spider-Man comic book series, where she appears as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis, connected to a life support system resembling a spiderweb.
Madame Web will hit theaters on July 7, 2023.
