‘Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney joined Marvel Sony universe. According to Deadline reports, Sydney Sweeney has joined Sony Pictures’ Madame Web alongside Dakota Johnson. The role for Sydney is still not confirmed. S.J. Clarkson is set to direct the film, screenplay penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, with Kerem Sanga also penning a previous draft.
Sony owns Spider-Man and Spider-Related Characters Under the terms of that deal, the movie rights to Spider-Man and characters like Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Vulture, and more will stay with Sony forever, as long as the studio produces at least one Spider-Man movie every five years and nine months. Madame Web is also one of the characters from the Spider-man universe. In the year 2021, Sony made more than $500 million worldwide by the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home was the biggest film of 2021 with $1.85 billion worldwide grossing.
In Marvel comics, Madame Web is a mutant who possesses psychic sensory powers including telepathy, clairvoyance, prescience, and the ability to sense the presence of psionic powers in others. She can also perform psychic surgery and appear to others in spirit (astral) form. She has a gifted intellect. Introduced in the 1980s The Amazing Spider-Man No. 210, Madame Web is a clairvoyant mutant who specializes in predicting the future of Spider-themed superheroes, having mentored not only Peter Parker’s alter ego, but also multiple generations of heroes calling themselves Spider-Woman.
Madame Web never actively fought any villains. For that reason, sources have stressed it’s possible the project could turn into something else. Insiders say due to her psychic sensory powers, she is essentially Sony’s version of Doctor Strange. It is unknown who Sweeney will be playing in the film.
