‘The Batman’ standalone sequel/spin-off series ‘The Penguin‘ is eyeing to begin filming in February. The series is scheduled to release on HBO Max on 2024.
The series revolves around the Penguin’s rise to power in the criminal underworld after the events of The Batman. According to Deadline, DC Films head Walter Hamada reportedly told that Reeves’ Batman universe with a standalone Penguin HBO Max series starring Colin Farrell is eyeing to start production in February 2023.
In March 2022, THR contended that HBO Max has ordered a limited series based on The Penguin. Lauren LeFranc will be the head writer and showrunner.
The Penguin Plot
The Penguin will follow Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell) as he attempts to take over Gotham City’s criminal underworld in the aftermath of ‘The Batman’ events. According to DC Database, Oswald Cobblepot is a crime boss of Gotham City. At first, he was a member of the Falcone Crime Syndicate, he served as an underboss to Carmine Falcone and the manager of the Iceberg Lounge. During the Riddler’s attacks on Gotham, Penguin came into conflict with Batman whilst he investigated his activities with Falcone’s operations.
The Penguin Cast
The confirmed cast till now is Colin Farrell. he plays the role of Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin. The other cast is TBA. During an interview with EW, Colin Farrell says that he would absolutely return as The Penguin in The Batman sequel. “Oh, I’m so in, are you kidding me, man? It was so much fun, are you joking me? I’ve been around the block, man. That was an easy sport. It was such a joy…”
Farrell recently shared a behind-the-scenes transformation into the Penguin character for The Batman.
The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television. Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark will be executive Produce.
