The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It has had a rousing critical and popular response. According to a Forbes article, the Michael Chaves-directed film grossed $9.84 million on its first day (Friday) in the United States, and is on course for a 24 to 26 million dollar opening weekend.

A Quiet Place Part II, directed by John Krasinski, garnered $6 million on Friday.
It’s the eighth installment in the Conjuring franchise. It purports to be based on a true story, just like its predecessors. However, unlike the prequels, it is based on a true murder case. Arne Cheyenne Johnson acknowledged killing his landlord but claimed that he was then possessed by the devil in his defense.
