The Expendables 4 first look featuring Jason Statham and Iko Uwais From the set of the film released. Both were filming a badass fight sequence. The Raid star Iko Uwais is fresh onboard, as Lionsgate announced. His character is described as a villain, so it’s safe to assume that our action hero team will take on him. Whether he will remain the only villain in Scott Waugh’s film (Act of Valor), i.e. miming the main villain, is of course still open.
The Expendables 4 has been in the works since 2014 when the third installment of the franchise was released in cinemas. However, by 2017, Sylvester Stallone had reached a creative stalemate with Lionsgate and had departed the film, bringing with him numerous of his friends and co-stars. Thankfully, Stallone made a comeback in 2018, but progress has been gradual in the years afterward, with multiple pauses and starts. Randy Couture, a member of the cast, confirmed in April 2021 that The Expendables 4 is still in the works, with a fresh version of the script being written and tentative plans to begin production in the fall of 2021.
Greenstein said to Comicbook that “It really was a scheduling nightmare,” putting together this new Expendables cast. “Because everyone has something and there are pre-existing commitments and family things that they’d like to attend and we have a legit pop star who has engagements planned and Megan Fox who is a big star and personality. So really we had to plan around every little thing for every single person to make it work. But we did it. And it’s been worthwhile. And we’ve got a great cast that we can really bank on, but one that’s really fun and also really diverse and unique. So it’s very exciting.”
The Expendables 4 cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Andy Garcia, Tony Jaa, Eddie Hall, Sheila Shah, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Iko Uwais. The film will hit theaters in 2022.
