The Mother starring Jennifer Lopez will begin this autumn

Niki Caro’s Netflix action thriller The film follows a deadly female assassin who comes out of hiding to teach her daughter how to survive. It will be released during Q4 2022.

Jennifer Lopez will play an assassin in The Mother, a new Netflix film in which she will appear.

The screenplay was written by Lovecraft Country creator Misha Green, who was recently confirmed to be replacing Ben Wheatley as the new director of the Alicia Vikander-led Tomb Raider sequel. The film is directed by Niki Caro, who previously directed Disney’s live-action Mulan adaptation last year. The Mother portrays a ruthless female assassin who emerges from hiding in order to defend the daughter she abandoned years ago while fleeing dangerous men.

Lopez is also scheduled to produce and feature in another Netflix film, The Cipher, a thriller based on the bestselling novel of the same name. Lopez will portray an FBI agent caught in a cat-and-mouse game with a serial murderer.

She’s also working on Shotgun Wedding, an action-comedy about a couple whose destination wedding is hijacked by thieves, with Josh Duhamel, who just replaced Armie Hammer as her co-star. Griselda “La Madrina” Blanco, a female Colombian drug lord who played a major role in the Miami cocaine trade during the 1980s, is also attached to the rom-com Marry Me with Owen Wilson and The Godmother, based on the true story of Griselda “La Madrina” Blanco, a female Columbian drug lord who played a major role in the Miami cocaine trade during the 1980s.
