Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which was released in 2016, was partially based on a Harry Potter world school textbook issued to Hogwarts students. It follows Newt Scamander, the book’s creator, on his quest to locate and classify diverse magical animals, which leads him to America in 1926. Scamander and his companions met Grindelwald, the first major Dark Wizard of the twentieth century and the forerunner of Voldemort, in the sequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. That storyline will be continued in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which will be released in cinemas in April 2022. The film will go into Dumbledore’s (Jude Law) past and how it links to Ezra Miller’s enigmatic new character Credence, who is now held captive by Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen).
