Steve Blackman, the showrunner and creator, announced on Instagram on August 17 that he directed one episode (the finale) of the third season. He also announced the names of all 10 episodes of season 3 during Netflix Geeked week in June.

The season 3 episodes are:

  1. Meet the Family
  2. World’s Biggest Ball of Twine
  3. Pocket Full of Lightning
  4. Kugelblitz
  5. Kindest Cut
  6. Marigold
  7. Auf Widersehen
  8. Wedding at the End of the World
  9. Six Bells
  10. Oblivion

Netflix also revealed the new cast members that would be joining season 3 as members of the Sparrow Academy, which was first established in the season 2 finale in an alternate 2019. As this new motley group with remarkable powers, Justin H. Min, Justin Cornwell, Genesis Rodriguez, Cazzie David, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, and destined-for-greatness actor known as “Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube” have joined The Umbrella Academy.

Season 3 just wrapped filming, and post-production for a series with a lot of CGI effects take about 7-8 months. In addition, based on past seasons’ timelines, The Umbrella Academy generally debuts every two years. Season 3 of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ will premiere on Netflix in May 2022.
