The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’ Album Campaign wins a Clio Music Award in 2021 for Republic Records.

On Thursday, Republic Records won a Clio Music Award for the outstanding integrated campaign for The Weeknd’s After Hours album campaign. At the inaugural Clio Music of the Year Awards, Republic was named label of the year. The Clio Music Awards honor creativity in marketing and promotion of an artist, label, music brand, product, or service, as well as the use of music in advertising. Five Clio juries evaluated applications across 26 mediums and handed out 240 honors, including 10 Grand Clio Music prizes and a variety of gold, silver, and bronze statues.

They also offered Clio Music of the Year Awards for the first time this year. The submissions with the most “statue points” across all medium kinds were chosen as the winners. Sony Music Publishing was named music publisher of the year, and Spotify In-House was named agency of the year, in addition to Republic Records.

In a statement, Clio president Nicole Purcell said, “This year our judges examined esteemed work that truly met the moment during a time of uncertainty and upheaval.” “We got incredible contributions from all around the world, many of which highlighted the power of music to unite, inspire, and comfort us – even in the most trying of times.”
