The video game adaptation’s second season, starring Henry Cavill, has been in development since February 2020. Despite the lack of information about a season two release date, Netflix teased Freya Allan’s Ciri, a strange blade, and enigmatic runes. Watch the trailer below

Season two will feature Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), who believes Yennefer was killed at the Battle of Sodden and attempts to transport Princess Cirilla to his boyhood home of Kaer Morhen, where he believes she will be safe.

While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons fight for supremacy on the outside, he must safeguard the girl from a far more terrifying threat: the unknown power she possesses within.

The Witcher team has had a difficult time completing season two of production. After multiple employees working with the series tested positive for Covid-19, production west of London came to a halt in November 2020. Only a month later, Cavill’s season two production came to a halt due to an injury he sustained on-site.

In addition to the trailer, Netflix announced that it will hold WitcherCon in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk and The Witcher. The event will take place on July 9, 2021, and will be inspired by both the series and the video game.
