Scarlett Johansson is shifting from Marvel to Wes Anderson’s universe. The Black Widow actress is the most recent major figure to join the filmmaker’s next project, which is now filming in Spain.
The cast includes familiar Anderson faces such as Margot Robbie, Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, and Tilda Swinton, as well as high-profile newcomers like Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks. Rupert Friend is also listed on the list.
Johansson recently gained attention when she filed a lawsuit against Disney for breach of contract when the media conglomerate opted to distribute Marvel’s “Black Widow” in theatres and on Disney+ at the same time. For $30, fans may view the film with Premier Access.
In her lawsuit, the star of “The Perfect Score” claimed that the action film reduced ticket sales and lost her $50 million in box office incentives. Disney maintained that her contract required a broad distribution, not simply an exclusive theatrical release and that she had met that commitment.
In a statement, Disney said the lawsuit had “no merit” and that it “is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.” The company also stated that Johansson received additional compensation on top of her $20 million payment from “Black Widow.” CAA represents Johansson.
