Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum to co-star in a film about a group of special force members who went to Afghanistan to rescues families and allies during its fall.

According to Deadline, The film, which has been picked up by Universal, will be directed by George Nolfi. Nolfi pitched the idea without a title and plans to follow a storyline that he took from the headlines of the events following the tumultuous evacuation of Afghanistan earlier this year.

The film will center on three former special forces team members who selflessly risk their lives alongside their Afghan counterparts on a mission to rescue various families and allies who were left behind during the confusion and terror following the quick fall of Afghanistan.

Nolfi is best known for writing and directing The Adjustment Bureau in 2011 and The Banker last year. Ocean’s Twelve, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Timeline are among Nolfi’s other credits.

Tatum will be seen in the forthcoming comedy Dog, which he is co-directing with Reid Carolin. The film will depict the story of Army Ranger Briggs and his Belgian Malinois companion dog, Lulu, as they rush down the Pacific Coast in the hopes of being in attendance for their closest buddy and handler’s burial. In February 2022, a dog will bark at screens. Tatum will also star alongside Sandra Bullock in the upcoming adventure-filled romantic comedy The Lost City, which will be released later this year. In April 2022, the film will be released in theatres.

Hardy has also been busy, having recently acted with Woody Harrelson and Michelle Williams in the popular antihero thriller Venom: Let There Be Carnage. When Let There Be Carnage, a sequel to 2018’s Venom, hit theatres in October, it decimated box office receipts. Hardy has recently completed filming for Gareth Evans’ upcoming thriller Havoc, which will be released on Netflix.
