Tom Hiddleston Reacts To Matt Damon’s Loki Returning In Thor: Love And Thunder

Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, got a lot done while posing as Odin and controlling Asgard. Okay, maybe not a lot, but he did launch the play. The Tragedy of Loki of Asgard, which featured Matt Damon as the God of Mischief for the stage performance (this was Damon’s second time playing Loki, following 1998’s Dogma). While the real Loki will not appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, Damon will reprise his role as the Asgardian performer in a new play, and Hiddleston has shown interest in seeing Faux Loki again.

Well, I have no ownership as you know. Loki contains multitudes, and he contains Matt Damon. I was so amused that I can’t remember, it was a couple of days on Ragnarok when he came in and did his thing. It was like looking into a very slightly distorted mirror. And his take on the whole thing was just hilarious, so I can’t wait to see what they’ve been doing.

Thankfully, Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and Luke Hemsworth’s Asgardian characters escaped the devastation of Asgard, as they return to star in a new production in Thor: Love and Thunder. This time, the staged drama will focus on the events of Thor: Ragnarok, with Melissa McCarthy reprising her role as Hela, an Asgardian actress. While Tom Hiddleston may be experiencing FOMO at the prospect of seeing someone else “play” Loki, it appears that he is okay with Damon continuing the mantle within the main MCU universe… in a sense.

Thor: Love and Thunder premiere in theaters on May 6, 2022.
