UFC 264: Conor McGregor Broke His Ankle Dustin Porier Won By Doctor Stoppage

The fight will be their third, with McGregor knocking out Dustin Poirier in the first round when they fought at featherweight in 2014 before the American avenged himself in January by handing the Irishman his first career KO loss. The lightweight bout in Abu Dhabi finished in the second round, and many experts foresee another early finish when the two meet in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena, which is expected to be packed out.

In the last four-and-a-half years, McGregor (22-5) has only one victory – a 40-second knockout of Donald Cerrone in January 2020 – whereas Poirier (27-6, 1 no-contest) has seven wins and one loss. The ‘Diamond’ has established himself as the top lightweight contender in the UFC, and he might have fought for the vacant undisputed title at 155 pounds this spring, having previously held interim gold. Instead, Poirier chose a money fight with McGregor, though the Louisianan will get a shot at Charles Oliveira’s championship if he wins tonight.
