Renee Montoya, who is set to be a DC superhero, she is on her way to Gotham City to save the day. Victoria Cartagena will play Renee in the CW drama Batwoman’s upcoming third season as a new series regular.

Montoya, a former GCPD officer from Cartagena, resigned from the force because she couldn’t stand the department’s corruption any longer. She’s now in charge of the “freaks section,” which hasn’t seen much action… until today. She’s a lady with a very personal (and mysterious) purpose to assist clean the streets of Gotham the proper way, by whatever means necessary. She’s righteous and pragmatic, and LGBTQ+.

Cartagena previously appeared on Fox’s Gotham as Renee Montoya, however, the two universes are not linked.

Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) has completely assumed the role of Batwoman in the Season 2 finale on June 27, with Kate Kane departing Gotham in search of her long-missing cousin Bruce Wayne (aka Batman). Ryan’s original mother, who was thought to have died in delivery, was also discovered to be alive.

Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, and Camrus Johnson co-star alongside Leslie; original cast member Dougray Scott just left the show. Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television are teaming together to bring you Batwoman.

Cartagena’s other recent credits include a recurring role on M and a series regular role on Fox’s Almost Family. Servant, a new Apple TV+ series from Night Shyamalan. She also had a recurring role on NBC’s Manifest during the first season. Sweet 180 and Gersh represent Cartagena.
