Zombie Thanos will return in the What If…? spin-off animated series Marvel Zombies and will include Zombie Thanos from the events of Wakanda. During Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ Day Special, Disney announced that Marvel Zombies a new live-action spin-off series for What If…? is in development.
Thanos possessed much of the same physical constitution and abilities as his extinct species. Later, Thanos was infected with an encephalopathic virus that overloaded his brain’s limbic system, turning him into a zombie. Since it’s not confirmed Thanos had his memory. The What If…? Episode 5 ends with Thanos holding 5 infinity stones in the Infinity Gauntlet. Vision’s Mind stone is not in his hands.

The Marvel Zombies was first introduced in the 20’s comic series, in which Marvel brought a version of brain-munching fiends to the page and the comic book fans accepted their superheroes turned into Zombies.
What If…? Episode 5 (What If… Zombies?!) introduced the Zombie universe to marvel, It explores what would happen if the events of films Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018) occurred differently, with members of the Avengers becoming zombies and initiating a worldwide zombie apocalypse, while a group of survivors searches for a cure. In the episode, we saw Spider-Man, Bruce Banner, Sharon Carter, Okoye, and Happy Hogan having to band together to find a cure for ‘Quantum Virus’ while avoiding being eaten by their former colleagues Captain America, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, and more Avengers team member who turned into zombies.
