Speaking to Wall Street Journal, Kravitz told about her upcoming directorial debut Pussy Island. The script, which she co-wrote with E.T. Feigenbaum, “was born out of a lot of anger and frustration around the lack of conversation about the treatment of women, specifically in industries that have a lot of money in them, like Hollywood, the tech world, all of that,” she says. She’d heard stories about powerful men inviting women to remote islands for hazy hedonist free-for-alls. What’s the version of that reality that I myself would want to see, Kravitz wondered. Then she started writing.

Zoë Kravitz made her acting debut in the romantic comedy film No Reservations (2007). She starred in X-Men: First Class (2011), which earned her nominations for a Teen Choice Award and a Scream Award. She rose to prominence playing Christina in The Divergent Series (2014–2016) and Leta Lestrange in the Fantastic Beasts film series (2016–2022).
