A24 released the trailer for ‘Dream Scenario‘ starring Nicolas Cage as Paul Matthews, a professor who enters people’s dreams. The film premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2023, and will hit theaters on November 10, 2023.
What is the Plot of the ‘Dream Scenario’?
Dream Scenario follows Paul Matthews (Cage), a listless family man and tenured professor with an affinity for evolutionary biology and anxiety regarding his own anonymity. One day, he discovers he has begun to appear in other people’s dreams at an exponential rate. As in life, his presence in these dreams is banal and non-intrusive — he’s simply there, staring indifferently at the fantasies and nightmares of strangers. Nonetheless, he becomes an overnight celebrity and is soon showered with the attention he has long been denied. But when Paul encounters a dreamer whose visions of him differ substantially from the norm, he finds himself grappling with the Faustian bargain of fame as his dream selves start inexplicably becoming violent within their respective unconsciousness.
In the film, Julianne Nicholson plays Janet, Paul’s wife, while Michael Cera portrays Trent, the head of a viral marketing firm. Tim Meadows takes on the role of Brett, the dean of Paul’s college, and Dylan Gelula appears as Molly, Trent’s assistant. Dylan Baker is featured as Richard, a colleague of Paul, and Kate Berlant stars as Mary, Trent’s business partner. Lily Bird and Jessica Clement play Sophie and Hannah, respectively, as Paul’s daughters. The cast also includes Cara Volchoff as Candice, Noah Centineo as Dylan, Nicholas Braun as Brian Berg, and Amber Midthunder as Haley.
