‘What If…?‘ Season 2, Episode 4, titled ‘What If… Iron Man Crashed Into the Grandmaster?‘ is now streaming on Disney+ on Christmas Day. This episode features the return of Iron Man.

Review:

Episode 4 opens with the events of 2012, as Tony Stark redirects a nuclear missile toward the Chitauri mothership, saving New York. However, this time, he doesn’t make his escape through the wormhole. The wormhole closes, pulling Stark to other reaches of space, causing him to crash-land on Sakaar, where he meets the Grandmaster and his troops.

The Grandmaster identifies Tony Stark as the one who destroyed the Chitauri ship and refers to him as Mr. Metal Mojo Man. Stark, seeing Pepper on TV and confirming her safety, learns that the Earth’s war is over. Grandmaster invites Stark to his birthday party and to watch the Sakaar Chariot race together. Valkyrie joins the race with a destructive vehicle. However, after the race, Grandmaster refuses to let Stark return home.

Gamora, in search of Stark, arrives on Sakaar intending to kill him for destroying the Chitauri mothership. However, she too gets caught by the Grandmaster, and both find themselves stuck in a Sakaar cage. Inside the cage, they encounter Korg. Using his tech skills, Stark manages to escape from the Sakaar cage. Following this, Stark decides to free Sakaar from the Grandmaster’s control. With assistance from Valkyrie and Korg, he constructs a new suit.

Stark returns to Grandmaster’s area and makes a condition that he will race with him and if he wins, Grandmaster needs to hand over the Sakaar to Stark. Grandmaster accepted the challenge and they will begin the race. Gamora, Valkyrie, and Korg will help Stark to win the race and destroy the Grandmaster. In the end, Gamora will catch Stark and bring him to Thanos, while they have a plan to kill Thanos.
