Yorgos Lanthimos‘ ‘Kinds of Kindness‘ has been rated R by the MPAA. The anthology film contains strong/disturbing violent content, strong sexual content, full nudity, and language.
Directed by Lanthimos from a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou, also stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.
According to the film’s official logline, “Kinds of Kindness is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.” (Watch the trailer)
According to Vanity Fair’s Little Gold Men, ‘Kinds of Kindness,’ is described as “hostile, aggressive, more like his early work and almost 164 minutes long (2 hours 44 minutes).”
Schafer on her role in ‘Kinds of Kindness’ said, “I’m so flattered that they have included me in the list of main actors and everything. I’m in it, truthfully, for one scene. I filmed for one day.”
‘Kinds of Kindness’ is set to premiere in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and will hit theaters on June 21, 2024, distributed by Searchlight Pictures.
