Jho Low is a Malaysian financier most widely recognized for his involvement in the 1MDB scandal. According to reports, Jho Low was a key figure in the production of Martin Scorsese‘s 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which starred Leonardo DiCaprio. Low, a friend of the film’s producer, Riza Aziz, financed the film through his company, Red Granite Productions.

According to the US Department of Justice, the money used to finance “The Wolf of Wall Street” was stolen from the 1MDB fund. The US government sued Red Granite Pictures in 2018 for the seizure of assets allegedly purchased with stolen funds, including the rights to “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Red Granite Pictures agreed to pay $60 million to settle the US government’s allegations in 2019, but the agreement did not constitute an admission of guilt by Red Granite or any of its executives, including Jho Low. The law remains a fugitive from justice and has not faced trial in the US.

As per Deadline, a feature documentary about the international fugitive Jho Low has started production in London.
