Dwayne Johnson has shared the first-look poster for ‘Red One,’ featuring J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus, and revealed that the trailer for the film will be released tomorrow.
On the X platform, Johnson shared the poster of Simmons’ Santa Claus, who is missing, and wrote:
“MISSING: SANTA CLAUS [CODE NAME: RED ONE]. All points alert to everyone around the world—be on the lookout for this man. Last seen at the North Pole. If you have any information, please reach out to the E.L.F. North Pole Command Center via the number on the bottom of this official RED ONE poster. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Christmas depends on it. And Nick, buddy, if you’re reading this—I will find you. ~ Callum Drift, Commander of The E.L.F.

Directed by Jake Kasdan and scripted by Chris Morgan, it is based on an original story by Hiram Garcia. In the film, Johnson stars as Callum Drift, Chris Evans as Jack O’Malley, with Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu as Jacqueline Frost, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Simmons as Santa Claus, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju as Krampus, Wesley Kimmel, and Bonnie Hunt as Mrs. Claus. Jenna Kanell also features in the cast.
Here’s the official synopsis for Red One:
“When a villain kidnaps Santa Claus from the North Pole, an E.L.F. (Extremely Large and Formidable) operative joins forces with the world’s most accomplished tracker to find him and save Christmas.”
In an interview, Hiram Garcia said, “This is a very special project for me and our entire team. It’s something I have been thinking about for several years. We’ve always wanted to do a massive holiday Christmas movie, but couldn’t find the right one. We were looking for something that matched DJ’s DNA, something that had more bite to it, that was much bigger, and more global. I had this idea for quite a long time, and during the pandemic, I thought to myself, ‘Let me put my head down now while we have this window of time working from home and try to flesh it out.’”
