Marvel Studios, at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, announced their upcoming Avengers movie titled ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ with Robert Downey Jr. playing the role of Doomsday and The Russo Brothers returning to direct the film from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely.
What is Doctor Doom’s plan in Avengers: Doomsday?
According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, in the film, Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the Multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the Multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place (Battleworld) under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.

Filming for the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will begin in London in the second quarter of 2025.
On stage at SDCC Hall H, Joe Russo said, “When we directed ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ we really believed it was the end for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” He added, “That four-movie run was incredible, and it left us creatively spent.” However, since then, the duo found a “very special story” that convinced them to come back. Joe emphasized, “It’s the biggest story that Marvel Comics ever told. It’s the reason that Anthony and I are standing up here.” And that film is “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
As per Variety, Marvel Studios will pay Anthony and Joe Russo around $80 million, while Robert Downey Jr. will be paid “significantly more” — this does not include back-end compensation for the eventual box office. The brothers will also produce the two films via their AGBO banner.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will be released on May 7, 2027.
