Marvel Studios and Sony are reportedly negotiating a new deal.

The new deal between Marvel and Sony will allow Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man to appear in more MCU films, including Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, as confirmed by Daniel Richtman on his Patreon post. Also, Marvel President Kevin Feige will remain in charge of the Spider-Man films.

The last deal allows Spider-Man to exist in both Sony’s universe (SSU) and the MCU. Sony collects the majority of the box office revenue for the solo Spider-Man films—Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)—as they finance the production. The revenue sharing favors Sony, as they receive the majority of box office earnings from these films, while Marvel receives a smaller percentage but retains the merchandising profits. The deal permits Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in both MCU films—such as Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Endgame (2019)—as well as in Sony’s solo Spider-Man films.

After a brief dispute in 2019, both sides renewed their agreement—and they are now reportedly working on a new deal to include Spider-Man in upcoming MCU films—Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

It is confirmed that Holland’s Spider-Man 4 is going to be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton, with filming set to begin next year. The film reportedly features Tom Hardy’s Venom and Knull (the Symbiote God) and is being developed as a street-level story.

Holland will return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and it is reported that Sony is trying to bring back Zendaya, while Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds won’t be returning. The script is written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, known for their work on previous MCU Spider-Man films.

Spider-Man 4 is expected to hit theaters in 2026.
