Marvel is introducing a cosmic threat as the main villain for the upcoming Nova series.
According to insider Daniel Richtman—in a new Patreon post—Annihilus, the ruler of the Negative Zone, a parallel dimension filled with hostile environments and bizarre lifeforms, will reportedly serve as the main villain in the Nova series.

Annihilus discovered advanced alien technology known as the Cosmic Control Rod, which grants him immense power, including energy projection, flight, and longevity.

Filming is scheduled to begin in late 2025 or early 2026. Sabir Pirzada, known for his work on Marvel’s Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel, is set to write the series. Glenn Close will return to her MCU role as Nova Prime Irani Rael, while John C. Reilly will reprise his role as Rhomann Dey.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed Richard Rider will be the lead in the Nova series. Feige said, “It’s happening, it’s coming together. Richard Rider, yep.” He added, “It’s three or four years out.”
Nova will premiere on Disney+, with the release date yet to be announced.
