DC Studios has officially released the first teaser trailer for James Gunn‘s Superman ahead of the full trailer’s release tomorrow. Watch it above.
The 30-second teaser opened with the Daily Planet globe and shows Rachel Brosnahan‘s Lois Lane looking at a TV screen in shock. In the next scene, everyone appears panicked, and suddenly, David Corenswet‘s Superman flies across the sky. The visuals are incredible.
As Gunn recently mentioned in an interview with The Wrap, the action sequences in Superman took inspiration from Top Gun: Maverick. This is evident in the teaser, where Superman flying across the sky almost resembles the fighter jet scenes from Top Gun: Maverick.
In the film, Corenswet plays the role of Clark Kent/Superman, Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Here’s the plot details for Superman:
“Superman, now a cub reporter in Metropolis, sets out on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.”
Superman arrives in theaters on July 11, 2025.
