Amazon’s Spider-Noir series, starring Nicolas Cage, has resumed filming after a pause caused by the wildfires in California.
Cage, who plays Ben Reilly/Spider-Noir in the show, was spotted filming in San Pedro, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, on the evening of Thursday, January 16, 2025. See the images below.
The show follows the story of Ben Reilly (Cage)—a private investigator—as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also uncovering his past as a superhero. Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, leading him to discover that the Mayor is involved in a nefarious plot with crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.
Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) helm Spider-Noir as co-showrunners and executive producers. The series also brings in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse creators Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal as executive producers. Harry Bradbeer will direct the first two episodes while also serving as an executive producer, with Amy Pascal producing through her company, Pascal Pictures.
During the announcement, Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity, and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers.” Sanders added, “The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero, and the accomplished producing team, including Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and the incredible team at Sony, is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.”
The series also stars Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Whitney Rice, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, Amanda Schull, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Scoot MacArthur, Michael Kostroff, Joe Massingill, and Cary Christopher.
Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to have Nicolas Cage starring in this series! No one else could bring such pathos, pain, and heart to this singular character. Along with our brilliant producers and partners at Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, we couldn’t ask for a better team to explore this reimagining of such an iconic character in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.”
Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Lord and Miller currently under an overall deal at Sony.
Spider-Noir will premiere on MGM+’s linear channel in the U.S. and then stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video in 2025.
