Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now scheduled to release before Avengers: Doomsday, following a recent delay in the latter’s release. Brand New Day is reportedly set to begin filming in July 2025 and is expected to wrap by December.

According to Nexus Point News, Mark Ruffalo is expected to return as Bruce Banner/Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with a “substantial role” comparable to his appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.

The last time we saw Bruce was in the final episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he returned from Sakaar and introduced his son, Skaar, to Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) and her family during a celebratory gathering. However, Bruce has not appeared in the MCU since.

Most recently, during the Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products panel, new details about Spider-Man: Brand New Day were revealed. A viewer confirmed that Disney showcased a sizzle reel for the film, which revealed three villains set to appear: Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone.

New details from the Disney Blockbuster panel reveal that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly feature Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone as villains, with filming set to begin in August 2025.

The film stars Tom Holland returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ Watson, and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in undisclosed roles. Additionally, Marvel Studios is casting for three new roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Two of these roles are for villains — one male and one female. Michael Mando is expected to reprise his Spider-Man: Homecoming role as Mac Gargan.

An insider report recently revealed that Sarah Snook is being considered for the role of a secondary villain in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while Sink is set to play Mayday Parker—who is connected to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe as the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane “MJ” Watson.

We don’t have access to the newly updated Spider-Man: Brand New Day script, but the previous draft follows the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Peter Parker is determined to lead a normal life and focus on college, stepping back from his responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, his peace is short-lived when a deadly new threat emerges, endangering his friends and forcing Peter to reconsider his promise. With the stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves.

The film will be produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
