The filming for the upcoming untitled Steven Spielberg UFO movie has wrapped, as confirmed by the film’s co-writer, David Koepp.

Production began in February 2025 in New Jersey under the working title “Non-View.” A few images from the set featuring stars Emily Blunt and Wyatt Russell were spotted during filming. By the end of May, filming had wrapped.

Filming for Steven Spielberg’s untitled UFO movie has officially wrapped, confirmed by co-writer David Koepp. The sci-fi film is set to hit U.S. theaters on June 12, 2026, via Universal Pictures.

During the world premiere of Jurassic World: Rebirth, speaking to Deadline, Koepp revealed that Spielberg’s UFO movie had completed filming. He said, “We finished shooting about three weeks ago. I think it looks fantastic.” He added, “Honestly, what he does so brilliantly is he combines a vast spectacle with really honest human emotion—unlike, I think, any other director. It’s a very emotional experience, this movie.”

The film had rumored titles such as The Dish and Disclosure. A short teaser is expected soon. “It is set in the universe of Close Encounters of the Third Kind—Spielberg’s previous UFO-based film—and takes place in a post-disclosure world.”

Filming for Steven Spielberg’s untitled UFO movie has officially wrapped, confirmed by co-writer David Koepp. The sci-fi film is set to hit U.S. theaters on June 12, 2026, via Universal Pictures.

The untitled UFO film marks Spielberg’s return to the science fiction genre as a director — his first since Ready Player One (2018). It is also the first Spielberg-directed film with a screenplay by Koepp since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).

The film stars Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Russell, Noah Robbins as Agent Munsey, Chavo Guerrero Jr. as a referee, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage.

Recently, O’Connor compared the film to “old-school” Spielberg — name-checking E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

“Yes, it is like a sci-fi… Well, I don’t know — I’m not supposed to say […] It does harken back to maybe a different tone than what he’s done lately — something he used to do that he hasn’t done for a little bit.”

Produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger and Spielberg under Amblin Entertainment.

The film will hit theaters in the United States on June 12, 2026, by Universal Pictures.
