Avengers: Doomsday is a direct continuation of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
In a recent interview with Marvel, President Kevin Feige confirmed that some characters in Avengers: Doomsday will go to the Baxter Building (Earth-828) from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Doomsday follows how the Avengers, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four face a multiversal threat.
Feige says the iconic Baxter Building — home of the Fantastic Four — will host more characters than ever before in Doomsday. With worlds literally colliding, heroes will be visiting each other’s territories, including major team headquarters. Feige describes the experience of uniting these teams after 25 years at Marvel as “surreal” and a “thrill.”
Feige said, “The fun of an Avengers movie is introducing people to each other and seeing how very different personalities get along.” He added, “In the case of a movie that involves the threat of worlds literally colliding, it’s fun to see them visit each other’s homes. So with the Baxter Building set — let’s say it had four or five people in it at most in the Fantastic Four movie — it’s got a heck of a lot more people in it [in Doomsday]. It’s a thrill to see that interaction. And it’s surreal for me, who’s been around for 25 years.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Feige confirmed that the Avengers: Doomsday script is undergoing changes. He described “plus-ing” happening every day on set, saying, “It is amazing to watch because those filmmakers, those actors—both the ones who are playing these characters for the first or second time and the ones playing them for the 10th or 12th time—are the best in the world at it and know these characters so well.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday is now being co-written by McFeely and Michael Waldron, the creator and head writer of the Loki series. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
In Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU begins the beginning of the end. As the multiverse nears total collapse, the Avengers assemble to face their greatest challenge yet—incursions, catastrophic collisions between realities that could destroy the entire multiverse. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes must race against time to save their reality while confronting the powerful figure behind it all—Victor Von Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).

Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing), and Lewis Pullman as Sentry.
