New set images from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day reveal a tank explosion, which is being filmed in Basingstoke, London. Production has been underway in Basingstoke since September 23, featuring Spider-Man and the tank. The tank scene has now concluded.

On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared footage of the tank explosion, showing a large cloud of thick smoke rising into the sky. See the clip below.
Most of the scenes were shot using practical effects instead of CGI, a creative choice by director Destin Daniel Cretton. It has also been confirmed that Jackie Chan’s stunt team is behind the action scenes in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly feature several villains that haven’t been revealed yet. Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher and Marvin Jones III‘s Tombstone are expected to have a conflict in the movie.

Most recently, John Rocha, on an episode of The Hot Mic, revealed that a female shapeshifter will be the main villain in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The casting has been completed, but the studio has yet to announce who will play the role.
A recent report from Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus) confirms that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly open with a montage of Spider-Man battling various villains—including Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, and Tombstone—spanning the years since Spider-Man: No Way Home. With each encounter, Peter Parker upgrades his suit, culminating in the version seen in the film.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Jones III has been confirmed to play the role of Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
