Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps – The Art of the Movie has revealed how Ralph Ineson’s Galactus looks without his signature helmet.

In the images, Galactus appears with a human-like face integrated into a massive mechanical structure. The helmet-less design shows a bald, human face emerging from an elaborate metallic, machine-like exoskeleton. His head is surrounded by industrial components, including panels, gears, and metallic plating, giving him a cosmic, ancient-machine appearance.

Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding, while speaking to Variety, revealed that “there was a lot of work on Galactus, trying to figure out the appropriate scale and how he’s going to be experienced for the first time, and we did key frames surrounding that.”

He added, “But Galactus was a complete joy to work on. He was challenging because we wanted to capture as much detail as possible. He was meant to be one of those cosmic characters that you almost can’t fully appreciate how big he is. We also stayed close to the Kirby design.”

At the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Galactus no longer threatens Earth‑828, as Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) builds a network of standing portals designed to transport Earth to a distant galaxy beyond Galactus’s reach. By the end of the film, the team successfully sends Galactus through one of the portals, far away from Earth.

Here’s the plot details for The Fantastic Four: First Steps:

Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet — and everyone on it — weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.

The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps – The Art of the Movie is now available to purchase on Amazon, and the movie is now streaming on Disney+.
