Two Spideys, Wolverine, and Deadpool are returning in Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
According to Daniel Richtman on his Patreon, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will reportedly have major roles in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Why Tobey Maguire, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds Have Major Roles in Avengers: Secret Wars?

In Marvel Comics, Secret Wars (2015) is built on one core idea: when the multiverse collapses, only a few universes survive long enough to matter. We have already reported that the opening scene of Avengers: Doomsday will feature the worlds of Deadpool, Wolverine, and Maguire’s Spider-Man beginning to collide due to a multiverse incursion, but the Earths will be saved by the TVA. Doctor Doom doesn’t save everyone—he saves pieces.
According to a new rumored report, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man plays a key role. In the comics, Peter Parker is one of the few heroes who exists across multiple reality resets. Spider-Man represents continuity, as he remembers what the world used to be.
In the MCU, Tobey’s Spider-Man comes from a completed universe. His story is finished, which makes him the perfect survivor rather than someone with unfinished arcs. Doom keeps people like that because they stabilize Battleworld.
In Secret Wars, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be an “anchor being,” a multiversal constant whose existence alone makes him both dangerous to Doctor Doom and essential to the resistance.
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is the comic character who knows when reality is wrong. In Secret Wars-era comics, characters who break the fourth wall are immune to narrative control. In the MCU’s Doom-ruled Battleworld, Deadpool represents chaos. He doesn’t belong to a single universe, and he doesn’t follow rules. That’s exactly why he survives the collapse.
In Avengers: Secret Wars, after the multiverse collapses, Doctor Doom creates a new world where all heroes lose their memories and unknowingly serve him as God Emperor Doom. Only a small group of surviving heroes, including Reed Richards, Black Panther and a few others, retain the truth and work together to undo Doom’s rule and restore the multiverse.
The cast of Avengers: Secret Wars so far includes:
• Robert Downey Jr. as Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom / Doctor Doom
