The ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ sequel is gearing up for production soon, and the film has already locked in a release date for June 9, 2028.
According to FilmBase UK, the ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ sequel will reportedly begin filming next month. Scarlett Johansson, who is returning as Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert, and Gareth Edwards, who is onboard to direct the sequel, are both signed on with Universal Pictures to return from Jurassic World Rebirth.
Back in September 2025, insider Daniel Richtman reported that Universal is working on the ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ sequel, and it will once again center around Johansson’s character. Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid and Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis are also returning.
Earlier this year, Production List updated its database to reveal that an untitled ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ sequel is in development. “Universal is assembling the core creative team behind Jurassic World Rebirth for a sequel film. Plot details are being kept under wraps.” The film will be produced by Edwards, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Patrick Crowley.

Rebirth picks up five years after Jurassic World Dominion. Dinosaurs now exist in scattered pockets across the globe, and humanity believes it has things under control. Johansson’s Bennett leads a mission to extract DNA samples from the three largest creatures across land, sea, and air — genetic material rumored to hold the key to revolutionary medical breakthroughs. Things, naturally, go off the rails.
In an interview, Edwards talked about the possibility of a ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ sequel right after the film’s release. He said, “Maybe there’s something in there.” However, even though ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ came from a strong franchise with two trilogies behind it, he added, “But no, we tried to make this movie as a standalone.”
‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ made $868.6 million worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing Hollywood film. Only Lilo & Stitch, which passed $1 billion, and A Minecraft Movie made more money. This was a big success for Universal, especially with a $225 million budget. However, critics did not fully like the film.
The movie has a 50% score from critics based on more than 400 reviews, while audiences gave it 70%. It was not a total failure, but it also was not a big hit with critics.
‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ is now streaming on Peacock.
