Note: This post contains spoilers for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
When Sadie Sink was cast in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, multiple character rumors began to appear about her mind-controlling role, and it is almost confirmed that she is playing the X-Men’s Jean Grey.
In the latest episode of The Hot Mic, John Rocha said, “I hear that Sadie Sink is, in fact, playing Jean Grey.” Rocha added, “They’re still working on VFX and stuff like that, but I think you can take it to the bank that we’re going to see a new Jean Grey.”

According to scooper @Cryptic4KQual, Sink’s X-Men character will have a “new visual flair” to her powers in the MCU, with more VFX that take inspiration from X-Men ’97.
“Jean gets the The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Sue Storm treatment. Unlike previous Jean Greys, her powers have a new visual flair. More VFX are involved, and it’s said to resemble her X-Men ’97 counterpart.”
In Brand New Day, Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey is kidnapped by the Department of Damage Control (DODC), with Tramell Tillman, who plays William Metzger (head of Damage Control), chasing her, as she has been under DODC surveillance for a long time.
Sadie Sink, during an interview with Vogue, spoke about her Spider-Man: Brand New Day experience, calling it “the most Zen” she’s ever felt on a project.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III has been confirmed to play the role of Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here are the plot details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he has devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
