Warning: This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
The X-Men’s appearance in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday appears to be a major part of the story. As seen in the opening of the recent Doomsday trailer, Patrick Stewart‘s Charles Xavier looks out the window and witnesses an Incursion, where an Earth is destroyed before his eyes. It is reported that the X-Men’s universe has already survived multiple Incursions.

According to scooper James Mack, Avengers: Doomsday will reveal that most of the X-Men were killed due to the Incursions. Mystique, Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Wolverine, Deadpool, Professor X, Magneto, Beast, and Gambit are reportedly the survivors.
The report also claims that another X-Men character will make a cameo in the film.
“The X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday have survived countless incursions, each one nearly wiping out their universe. They’re exhausted, broken, and have sacrificed everything. Every Incursion forces them to send their members to another Earth to battle its defenders and erase that universe from existence before it destroys theirs.”
According to the plot leak, the Avengers and Fantastic Four travels to the X-Men universe to warn them about Doctor Doom’s plan. The X-Men are hostile, having survived multiple Incursions and trust no one. They assume the MCU heroes and the Fantastic Four have come to destroy them and attack.
Kevin Feige Says Avengers: Doomsday Will Decide the Fate of Three Universes

In a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that Avengers: Doomsday revolves around three universes fighting for survival as the Incursions threaten every world. Feige questioned whether the heroes will fight each other to protect their own realities or unite to save all three worlds.
“Will these heroes kill each other in order to defend their own worlds, or will they be able to find a way to work together and save all 3 worlds? And how will Doctor Doom enter into all of this?”
Feige also confirmed that the upcoming Avengers movies are inspired by the Time Runs Out and Secret Wars comic book storylines.
“What we really want to do is two things: first, to bring some storylines to a conclusion — storylines that began long before Iron Man, including the original X-Men characters. Second, to set the stage for the future.”
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Wesley Holloway, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Alex Livinalli, and Mabel Cadena, with Tenoch Huerta Mejía.
In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes are set on a deadly collision course, facing an existential threat unlike anything they have ever encountered.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters across the United States on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
