Warning: This post contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame Encore and Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is going to be the biggest-ever multiversal film in the MCU. The film is taking back 2003 with a major universe collision during the incursion teased in the Avengers: Endgame Encore post-credits scene. “The TVA witnesses the multiverse collapsing, where 3,000 universes will collide with each other in the MCU.”
In the second post-credits scene of Avengers: Endgame Encore, the scene is set at TVA headquarters after Loki has taken over as the being holding the timelines together. The scene opens with Miss Minutes gently reminding folks to stay in their universe so the TVA doesn’t “have to hunt you down like a dog,” as Mobius walks into the control room. Casey and O.B. (Ouroboros) are already at the monitors.
They first notice two specific universes heading toward an incursion: Earth-10005 (the Fox X-Men universe) and Earth-1127. Before the two universes collide, they start firing missiles at each other, with each side trying to destroy the other first so only one universe dies. Then, the screens light up with many more incoming collisions. The crisis is no longer about two universes. It is thousands. O.B. says, “The entire multiverse is collapsing.”
On the TVA monitor, we can see the universes that have been terminated or destroyed, including:
- Earth-400083: Hulk (2003) movie universe — TERMINATED
- Earth-15886: Fantastic Four (2015) movie universe — DESTROYED
- Earth-82111: Captain Carter’s What If…? universe — DESTROYED
Avengers: Doomsday Will Leave Only Three Earths After a Major Incursion
In the post-credits scene, we can see an incursion between Earth-10005 and Earth-1127, rather than Earth-96283. But you have to remember that the X-Men have been through multiple incursions, so this isn’t their first time facing one. They have unfortunately had to take out multiple Earths to save their own universe.
By the time of the events of Avengers: Doomsday, only four Earths remain in the entire multiverse. We see the X-Men from Earth-10005 take out Tobey Maguire’s Earth-96283 at the beginning of Doomsday, leaving only three Earths: Earth-10005, Earth-616, and Earth-828.
Director Joe Russo described the re-release as a narrative bridge to Avengers: Doomsday, with changes to the original film’s ending and three new post-credits scenes. Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters with a new ending and three post-credits stingers, including two that directly lead into Avengers: Doomsday.

“Universes collide, and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr., who led the Avengers series as Iron Man, makes a shocking return as the evil scientist Doctor Doom. Familiar heroes like Steve Rogers and Thor are joined by a new generation of heroes, hinting at the largest assembly in history.”
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.
Avengers: Endgame Encore will hit theaters on September 25, 2026, while Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
