Paramount Pictures released a new trailer for ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One‘. The trailer begins with Tom Cruise‘s iconic character, Ethan Hunt, defying gravity in a breathtaking base jumping sequence. As Ethan’s haunting past closes in, a perilous race unfolds across the globe, pitting him against a mysterious and all-powerful enemy. Watch the trailer below.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erik Jendresen. The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Henry Czerny.
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.
Director McQuarrie revealed that the base jumping sequence took years of preparation, utilizing technology that wasn’t previously available. The behind-the-scenes footage shows Cruise’s intensive training, including over 500 skydives and 13,000 motorcycle jumps, solidifying his expertise and minimizing the possibility of accidents. The Base jumping coach highlights the extreme risk involved, with the primary focus being on avoiding serious injury or even death.
“The only things you have to avoid while doing a stunt like this are serious injury or death. You’re riding a motorcycle, which is pretty dangerous, on top of a ramp that’s elevated off the ground, so if you fall off the ramps, that’s pretty bad. You’re falling, so if you don’t get a clean exit from the bike and you get tangled up with it, or if you don’t open your parachute, you’re not going to make it.”
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will hit theaters on July 12, 2023, by Paramount Pictures.
