‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Release Update: Set For 2025

The release date for HBO’s ‘Euphoria‘ Season 3 is scheduled for 2025, as confirmed by HBO’s Drama Chief Francesca Orsi.

Euphoria Season 3 Production Delayed as Sam Levinson Completes Post-Production on The Idol

During an interview with Deadline, Orsi provided insights into the challenges faced by the hit series Euphoria. She revealed that there was a considerable two-and-a-half-year gap between Season 1 and Season 2 due to pandemic-related delays. Unfortunately, fans can expect an even longer wait for Season 3. This delay is attributed to Sam Levinson‘s commitment to another project The Idol, Zendaya‘s busy schedule, and the current writers’ strike. The second season of Euphoria premiered in January 2022.

Orsi explained that although the writing process for Euphoria Season 3 had begun alongside post-production work on The Idol, the lack of completed scripts means that filming cannot commence. As a result, the anticipated delivery of Season 3, ideally in 2025, is contingent on when Sam Levinson can resume work, as he is currently focused on finishing post-production for The Idol.

Orsi said, “Euphoria is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts.” Orsi added, “We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam, who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.”

Back in April 2023, one of the show’s costume designers, Heidi Bivens, told Season 3 would begin filming in June 2023 and may have a 5-year time jump. “There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future, and that they’re not in high school anymore.” which means we can see Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney in adulthood. According to reports, Zendaya’s deal For Euphoria has been renegotiated.

Euphoria was created and written by Sam Levinson and is based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name, which was created by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin. The series stars Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Nika King, Storm Reid, and Javon “Wanna” Walton.

The series follows a group of high school students as they navigate through the trials and tribulations of adolescence, including drug use, sex, and identity issues.

Euphoria season 1 and 2 is now available on HBO Max.
