What is the Plot of ‘A Different Man’?
According to the film’s plot as per A24’s official website, “Aspiring actor Edward (Stan) undergoes a radical medical procedure to drastically transform his appearance. But his new dream face quickly turns into a nightmare as he loses out on the role he was born to play and becomes obsessed with reclaiming what was lost.”
During the film’s premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, Stan spoke to Variety about walking around New York City in his prosthetic makeup to observe how people would treat him.
Stan said, “I interacted with people and it was really interesting.” Stan added, “It was sort of scary to see how limited the interaction is between two extremes: don’t address it or overcompensation. The only people that were the most honest were kids. I had this interaction with a little girl, and her mom is trying to do the right thing, but in doing the right thing she actually was preventing the girl from simply having an experience. She was brave and courageous, and that’s kids, right? They just want to know — they don’t have judgement. It was a learning lesson for me.”
Produced by Christine Vachon, Gabriel Mayers, and Vanessa McDonnell, the film is a collaboration between Killer Films and Grand Motel Films.
When will ‘A Different Man’ hit theaters in the United States?
