Amber Midthunder (Prey, Legion) and Alan Ritchson (Reacher, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare) have been cast in the action-thriller Painter, as confirmed by Deadline.
The film will be developed by FilmNation Entertainment’s production label, Infrared. Painter is written by Derek Kolstad, known for his work on John Wick, and directed by veteran Hollywood stunt coordinator Garrett Warren, known for Logan, Avatar, and Road House. This project marks Warren’s shift from stunts to directing.
Painter follows a young woman (Midthunder), trained from a young age, who must use every skill in her arsenal to rescue her kidnapped father.
According to sources, at next week’s American Film Market (AFM) in Las Vegas, FilmNation will launch sales for the project, which is expected to be one of the hot packages.
The film is produced by Alan Ritchson, Drew Simon (Infrared), Derek Kolstad, Josh Adler (Circle of Confusion), and Dan Spilo (Industry Entertainment), with financing from Infrared.
Drew Simon, Infrared President of Production said, “Painter will be a seminal action hero film, making Midthunder into this generation’s Sarah Connor (Terminator).” Simon added, “We loved Kolstad’s high-octane script, and we know with Garrett Warren at the helm this film will kickstart an exciting new franchise in the world of action.”
Painter currently has no set release date.
