Apple TV+ has revealed the first look and release date for Season 2 of the darkly comedic murder mystery series ‘Bad Sisters.’
The streamer has confirmed that Season 2 will premiere with its first two episodes on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, with new episodes being released weekly until Christmas Day. See the first-look image below.
The black comedy follows the five Garvey sisters—Eva (Sharon Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson). After Grace’s abusive husband dies under mysterious circumstances, the sisters become the focus of a life insurance investigation. The series alternates between two timelines: before John Paul’s (Claes Bang) death, when the sisters were planning their crime, and after his death, as an insurance agent tries to uncover what really happened. In addition to the main cast, Season 2 features Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward, Michael Smiley, Saise Quinn, Daryl McCormack, Yasmine Akram, Jonjo O’Neill, Peter Claffey, Deirdre Mullins, Lorcan Cranitch, Liz Fitzgibbon, and Justine Mitchell.
When does Season 2 of Bad Sisters take place?
Season 2 opens two years after the ‘accidental death’ of John Paul—and, as per the synopsis, “the close-knit Garvey sisters may have moved on, but when past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight. Suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets revealed, and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.”
During the announcement, Horgan said, “If you’d have told me three years ago that I’d be making a series about five murderous sisters chasing a man around Ireland trying to kill him I’d have said, ‘Yeah, that sounds about right,’” Horgan added, “The response to our show had been beyond what we could have hoped for. It gave us the opportunity to shine a light on stories that don’t always get such a global platform. I look forward to getting chilly in the Irish Sea one more time.”
The series is executive produced and written by Horgan, alongside Brett Baer and Dave Finkel, who adapted it from the Belgian series ‘Clan’ by Malin-Sarah Gozin. Horgan, Faye Dorn, and Clelia Mountford produce for Merman, with Gozin, Bert Hamelinck, and Michael Sagol producing for Caviar. Additional writers include Karen Cogan, Ailbhe Keogan, Daniel Cullen, Perrie Balthazar, and Paul Howard. Directed by Dearbhla Walsh, Josephine Bornebusch, and Rebecca Gatward, with Walsh also serving as an executive producer, ‘Bad Sisters’ is produced by Merman Television and ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
