Benedict Cumberbatch to Return as Doctor Strange in Upcoming MCU Project

Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange in the MCU, confirmed that he will be reprising his role in an upcoming project scheduled to begin filming next year.

Cumberbatch last appeared in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” with the post-credits hinting at an exciting future in the MCU.

In an interview with Nick Hackworth’s JW3 Speaker Series, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed that the Doctor Strange-related MCU project will start filming next year. However, he didn’t disclose any further details or the project’s name.

There are several upcoming MCU projects in which Doctor Strange might make an appearance, including “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” “Fantastic Four,” and “Doctor Strange 3.” “The Kang Dynasty” is slated for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026, and it has the potential to reintroduce additional Avengers characters.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is now available on DIsney+.
