James Gunn Denies DCU Leaks Rumor, Teases: ‘Guess Away!’
James Gunn, Co-CEO of DC Studios, dismissed at least one rumor from DCU Leaks today as false, teasing, “Have fun guessing!”
Who is Plastic Man in DC Comics?
In DC Comics, Plastic Man is created by cartoonist Jack Cole. His real name is Patrick “Eel” O’Brian. Originally a crook, he gained stretching powers after a mishap during a robbery. He was helped to reform by a monk named Father Craemer. Plastic Man can stretch and shape his body in any way he wants, using his powers to fight crime with humor. He often assists other members of the Justice League in their battles against evil.
Recently, Gunn clarified that the DCU canon will start with the animated series ‘Creature Commandos‘ and then ‘Superman: Legacy.’
As for the DCU, Gunn said, “Nothing is canon until Creature Commandos next year—a sort of aperitif to the DCU—and then a deeper dive into the universe with Superman: Legacy after that. It’s a very human drive to want to understand everything all the time, but I think it’s okay to be confused about what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything from the DCU yet.” Gunn added, “And, yes, some actors will be playing characters they’ve played in other stories, and some plot points might be consistent with plot points from the dozens of films, shows, and animated projects that have come from DC in the past. But nothing is canon until CC and Legacy.”
More details about the “Plastic Man” project are expected to be revealed soon, as nothing has been confirmed yet.
Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy’ hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
